Fehmarn is one of Germany's premier flat-water spots with excellent consistency—197 windy days annually means frequent sessions. Check tide tables before going out as shallow areas and currents vary significantly with tidal cycles.

The flat water and sandy/shallow beach allow easy ground launches for beginners. West and east winds provide consistent conditions; enter from the beach and be mindful of shallow areas extending 100+ meters offshore.

Respect the shared space with windsurfers and other water users; stay clear of shipping lanes and established courses. Communicate with other riders and maintain a consistent upwind/downwind pattern.

Wear a 4/3mm or 5/3mm wetsuit year-round as Baltic Sea water rarely exceeds 15°C; thicker protection (6mm) is recommended for winter sessions from November through March.
