Basic licenses
Catamaran
The internationally recognised WWS Basic Catamaran License serves as proof of proficiency and is helpful when renting catamarans — numerous watersport centres in Germany and abroad require it.
Training
The practical training aims to provide the skills needed to sail a catamaran safely and return to the starting point. Parts of the practical exam can already be taken during the course.
The examination
Theory exam
The questionnaire covers materials studies, general legal studies, theory of sailing, safety, nature and the environment, and knots. An oral exam option is available, and the exam can be repeated.
Practical exam
Steering and sailing different courses with correct sail position; mooring and casting off; setting sail and rescue; stopping by coiling and heaving to; knots, cruising, speed control, capsizing and righting, tacking and gybing — finishing with an independent return to the starting point.
Your certificate
The WWS certificate of proficiency can be purchased at the end of the course directly from your school. On presentation of the certificate, you can additionally order the waterproof card from the WWS association in Germany — credit-card format, made for the water.
