- Boat traffic from tourist resorts and fishing vessels in the area

- Beach clubs and restaurants along the shore with facilities and fresh water
- Professional kitesurfing schools and equipment rental stations at the beach
Lokale Tipps
Book sessions early morning to avoid afternoon thermal winds and midday heat. Hurghada airport access makes this a convenient destination; coordinate with local operators familiar with seasonal wind patterns and shallow water hazards.
Einstieg & Strand
Flat water conditions are ideal for beginners. Launch from sandy beach with light winds typically from NW/N directions; check tide times as shallow areas can become very limited at low tide.
Lokale Regeln
Respect the busy tourist zone by staying aware of swimmers and snorkelers. Follow local guide directions for designated kite zones to avoid conflicts with resort activities.
Was anziehen
Wear a light rash guard or thin wetsuit year-round for sun protection and mild water temperatures (22-27°C). Board shorts work fine; bring reef shoes for sharp bottom protection.

Spot-Guide
The Experience
Tawila works because of two things: flat water and 282 windy days a year. The lack of chop makes it genuinely useful for dialing tricks and building consistency. Launch off sand, no shore break to fight.
But the Red Sea moves on its own schedule. Currents run hard and unpredictably. You'll drift. Understand your exit before you go out, and check tide times — low tide compresses already shallow water further. Coral and rocks scattered throughout demand constant navigation, not aggressive, but real.
Wind & Conditions
Average 15.5 knots NW/N year-round. June–October runs 12–18 knots consistently. Winter (Dec–Feb) stays reliable. Session timing matters: launch before 9 AM. Afternoon thermals ramp fast, and midday desert heat is serious. Dehydration happens quick.
Water
Flat is the draw and the trap. Shallow throughout with scattered coral and rocks. Never kite on or near reef — stay clear and let it be. Current is the real hazard. Tides swing hard. Check them.
Who It's For
Solid water starts and basic control. If you can't launch and fly the bar cleanly, current and navigation demands are too high. Intermediate and up find reliable, straightforward conditions — no massive challenge, solid progression time.
The Reality
Hurghada airport is close. Rentals and instruction run through resort infrastructure. But easy access ≠ easy conditions. You're in a desert with extreme sun, constant boat traffic from tour ops, and a sea that moves independently. Launch early, stay hydrated, respect the current. Ignore any of that and you'll learn fast why the Red Sea demands attention.
