Ausstattung

  • Basic accommodation and food options in nearby Hamata village
  • Limited kite repair facilities; bring spare parts and repair kit
  • Relatively uncrowded beach with minimal commercial development

Lokale Tipps

Sataya is extremely remote with limited services; plan for self-sufficiency and bring all essentials. The area offers excellent wind consistency (275+ windy days/year) but requires patience and local knowledge to navigate safely.

Einstieg & Strand

Launch from the beach with caution due to choppy conditions; NW to N winds are most consistent and favorable. Start in deeper water away from shallow areas to avoid impact zones.

Lokale Regeln

This is a remote, low-traffic spot with few established protocols; respect local fishermen and avoid their nets. Keep a safe distance from other water users and always maintain awareness of strong currents.

Was anziehen

A 3mm wetsuit is adequate for most months; bring a 2mm for summer (May-Aug). Water temperatures in the Red Sea range from 21-28°C, so minimal protection is needed except in winter.

Spot-Guide

Wind & Water

NW to N winds run Oct–Jun, averaging 15.8 knots but variable and often choppy. Red Sea swells and sudden shifts are normal. January–February are most consistent. Currents near Hamata run strong—don't underestimate them. Reef and rocks cover the seafloor. Stay in deeper water off the launch zone and scout first.

What You Need

Intermediate wave skills minimum. Self-rescue competence required. You're hours from a kite shop and farther from help. Bring spare parts, repair kit, and everything you might forget. Leash every session.

Who Should Come

Experienced solo travelers and competent crews. Anyone reading bad water and backing off when it feels wrong. Beginners and anyone relying on external support: find another beach.

The Reality

Hamata village is close enough for food and sleep, far enough that you feel isolated. No beach bars, no kite schools, no rescue. The beach is a launch zone, not a scene. Minimal crowds. Remoteness is the entire draw and the entire challenge.
