Lokale Tipps

Aruba's consistent wind makes Malmok a reliable spot with 320 windy days annually—plan visits during peak seasons (April–May, June–July) for optimal conditions. Always check local weather forecasts, as trade winds can vary week to week.

Einstieg & Strand

East and northeast winds dominate, providing consistent offshore-to-sideshore conditions ideal for launching. The choppy ocean means getting through the whitewater requires good technique; pick calmer morning sessions when possible.

Lokale Regeln

Malmok is popular but spacious—respect other water users and maintain a safe distance from swimmers. Yield to anyone already riding and avoid launching directly into established riding zones.

Was anziehen

A 3mm or 2mm spring wetsuit is sufficient year-round given Aruba's warm tropical climate (75–85°F). Rashguards offer sun protection and help with abrasion from the choppy water.

Spot-Guide

The Experience

Malmok works. April through September, you show up and the wind is there. Sixteen knots average, which means you're not waiting for conditions—you're managing them.

Consistency isn't the same as easy. The water runs choppy, and the launch zone has teeth. Punching through whitewater to clean water is a skill check every session. Sloppy technique gets exposed fast.

Wind & Conditions

Trade winds dominate—east to northeast flow is the baseline. Mornings are cleaner; afternoon wind shear stacks gusts on top of already-strong flow. Time of day matters.

The 320-day stat is solid, but check forecasts before booking. Peak season (April–May, June–July) is when the system locks in hardest.

Water & Hazards

Shallow reef sits near shore. Navigation is mandatory, not optional. Plan your launch and exit zones before you paddle out. Current here is strong; respect it.

Once past the chop, you've got room to work and fall without consequences. Getting there is the barrier.

Who This Spot Suits

Intermediate water skills minimum. You need to read chop, manage current, and launch through active whitewater. If rough water doesn't rattle you and you want reliable wind, this is your spot.

Beginners belong elsewhere in Aruba.

On-Shore

Bars, restaurants, rental shops within walking distance. Showers and basic facilities work. You can refuel and get back on water without hassle.
