Lokale Tipps
Wind is consistent but light, so patience and good technique are essential—this spot rewards efficient bar control. Visit in the winter months (Dec–Feb) or shoulder seasons for slightly stronger and more reliable conditions.
Einstieg & Strand
South Hole Sound's flat, protected waters are ideal for beginners, but soft sand beach launches require good kite control due to light, shifty winds. Launch on the eastern shore where ENE/NE winds blow most consistently onshore.
Lokale Regeln
Respect local fishermen and give boats clear passage; the sound is a working area. Stay aware of other water users and launch/land away from congested zones.
Was anziehen
A 2-3mm rashguard or light wetsuit is sufficient year-round given the warm tropical climate; prioritize sun protection and quick-dry clothing.

Spot-Guide
The Experience
Launching from soft sand on Little Cayman's eastern shore, you're fighting light wind to get airborne. This spot doesn't reward muscle—it punishes sloppy technique. The Sound delivers protected, flat water that forgives mistakes, but the wind is stingy. Solid days feel mellow. Light days become a grinding lesson in efficiency or a frustrating drift-fest.
Wind & Conditions
Average 14.5 knots is generous. Most reliable in winter (December–February) and shoulder seasons; the rest of the year is thermal lottery. Two hundred-plus windy days annually sounds solid until you realize Little Cayman's "windy" doesn't always mean "rideable." Expect plenty of sessions nursing a barely-flying kite and a board with no speed.
The Water
Flat and shallow—excellent for learning, but you need to know what's underneath. Reefs and hard bottom exist throughout; avoid dragging gear or yourself across them. Boat traffic runs steady with fishing boats and resort shuttles; stay aware and don't assume solo water. Sun exposure is serious with almost no beach shade.
Who Rides Here
Beginners comfortable with light-wind management and technical bar work. If 18-knot minimums are your threshold, leave. Intermediates seeking a mellow session between harder spots get value from the protected water and flat conditions.
