Lokale Tipps
Visit during Aug-Dec for most consistent winds and dry season conditions. Hire a local guide familiar with lagoon geography, currents, and seasonal tidal patterns for safety and best spots.
Einstieg & Strand
Launch from sandy beaches with consistent ENE/NE winds; flat water conditions make this ideal for beginners. Scout for shallow areas and sandbars before entering the water.
Lokale Regeln
Respect local fishing communities and protected lagoon areas; coordinate with guides to avoid restricted zones. Keep sessions away from boat traffic and populated areas.
Was anziehen
No wetsuit needed; wear UV-protective rashguard or thin long-sleeve shirt due to intense equatorial sun. Quick-dry shorts and water shoes recommended for shallow sandbars.

Spot-Guide
The Experience
You're kiting inside a national park. White-sand dunes rise behind lagoons so flat they actually work for progression. This is Brazil's north Atlantic coast—protected, remote, and serious about staying that way. Between August and December, ENE winds funnel through consistently. Downwinders here are the draw: you ride past sand mountains for hours with nothing around you.
Wind & Conditions
July through mid-January is your window. October–mid-December runs strong and reliable, with ENE/NE averaging near 10 knots and pushing into the teens during peak season. The wind flips between cross and onshore depending which lagoon you choose—cross means you manage your drift; onshore means the Atlantic doesn't become your problem. Trade winds here stay predictable enough to plan around.
The Water
Flat. The lagoons have shallow sandbars and seasonal obstacles that shift. Hire a local guide—not optional. They know which bars hold, which ones snap boards, where currents actually run, and which lagoons work on which tides. The park enforces protection strictly. Use established launch areas. Don't cut new tracks across dunes.
Who It's For
Beginners and flat-water freestylers. You progress here because chop won't punish every mistake. Freestylers get unlimited space and zero chop. Advanced riders hunting waves should go elsewhere—this spot exists because there aren't any. The remoteness cuts casual traffic, which means more water and actual isolation. São Luís sits 30–45 minutes away. Rescue isn't around the corner.
Getting There
Fly into São Luís. Base yourself in Atins—a small town with pousadas near the beach, no nightlife, walkable to check wind. Hire a guide who knows current conditions and seasonal patterns. They'll show you working lagoons and keep you clear of tidal pins. Bring sunscreen you'll actually reapply; tropical sun here is punishing and there's zero shade on the water. Stock supplies in São Luís before heading out.
