Lokale Tipps
Best conditions occur during the dry season (May-October) when trade winds are consistent. Check local weather forecasts as monsoon transitions can bring unpredictable conditions.
Einstieg & Strand
The flat water and consistent ESE/SE winds make for smooth launches. Best launch from sandy beach areas during morning sessions when winds are most stable.
Lokale Regeln
Respect local fishermen's areas and give way to traditional fishing boats. Keep sessions away from populated swimming zones and be mindful of local customs.
Was anziehen
A 2-3mm springsuit is sufficient for the tropical warm water year-round. Rash guard recommended for sun protection during the dry season peaks.

Spot-Guide
The Experience
Flat water and reliable ESE/SE trades. That's the pitch. You're not here for scenery—you're here because the wind shows up 156 days a year and doesn't apologize. The Makassar Strait funnels consistent air down the beach, which means fewer marginal days spent checking forecasts. Glassy mornings let you focus on technique instead of reading texture.
The beach is functional. Sandy launch zones, small warungs, local guys who know the water. No resort tax. No crowds.
Wind & Conditions
May through October is peak season: stable ESE/SE trades at 12–16 knots, regular stronger pulses. Mornings are cleanest; afternoon thermals can shift direction. December and January work too—pattern flips but wind holds. April and November are sketchy—squirrelly direction, unpredictable gusts. Skip those months.
Water & Hazards
Shallow sand near shore is beginner-friendly for stance work. Stay off coral during launch and initial riding—it's sharp and protected. Tidal currents through the strait pull hard during tide changes; know timing, give yourself margin, don't fight the flow. Fishing boats work these waters regularly. They're not watching for kites. Wear bright colors on your board.
Who Rides Here
True beginners progressing on flat water. Intermediate riders dialing technique in no-chop conditions. Not for wave hunters or reef-pass explorers.
Reality Check
No kite school. No rental infrastructure. Local guides exist and read conditions well—worth using. Guesthouses in Jeneponto town; better gear selection in Makassar. No rescue jetski, no immediate medical access. Wind and flatness are real. Remoteness is real. That's the trade.
