Lokale Tipps

Winter and spring (Jan, Mar-May) offer the best wind consistency with 233+ windy days yearly. Book ferry transport to the island in advance during summer peak season, as spots can get crowded.

Einstieg & Strand

The flat, protected bay provides ideal launching conditions for beginners. West and east winds are most consistent; approach from the western beach area where shallow water allows easy entry.

Lokale Regeln

Respect swimming areas and stay aware of tourist swimmers and paddleboarders in this busy Mediterranean spot. Keep clear of the main beach during peak summer hours.

Was anziehen

A 3/2mm wetsuit suits most seasons; switch to 2mm in summer months (July-August) when Mediterranean waters warm up.

Spot-Guide

The Experience

Plage d'Argent is a protected launch into shallow bay. Flat water means you won't fight chop while learning. Hills and terrain funnel wind into steady west and east flows—no random gusts. Wade in, rig waist-deep, ride in minutes.

Wind & Conditions

233 windy days per year. Average 15–16 knots fits beginner-to-intermediate riding. Wind is consistent but terrain-sensitive; expect 10–15 minute lulls when the flow bends around the island. Winter and spring (January–May, September–October) are the reliable windows. Summer has stronger wind on paper but tour boats clog the water and parking fills by 10am.

The Water

Shallow throughout. Seagrass beds will slow your board—stay mobile. Tidal currents run strong here because ferries use this passage constantly. Check tide tables before you go. Winter water is cold (low 50s F); bring a 4/3. Summer is warm, but you'll share the bay with passenger ferries.

Who It's For

Beginners drilling technique and transitions. Intermediates will be bored—no swell, no progression. Come for flat-water practice, not progression.

The Scene

Tourist island year-round. Summer is packed; parking vanishes. Winter is quieter—Tuesday in February can feel empty. Book your ferry slot in advance during peak season.
