- Inconsistent wind with only 51 windy days yearly requires careful weather monitoring
- Strong tidal influence in this French Atlantic zone affects water conditions throughout the day

Lokale Tipps
Winter months (Nov-Mar) offer the most consistent winds; plan trips around these peak seasons. Check tide tables before sessions as tidal range significantly impacts water conditions and launching zones.
Einstieg & Strand
Beach launching is straightforward from sand, but choppy conditions mean expect a bumpy ride once airborne. West and northwest winds are most reliable; avoid launching during weak wind days when thermal activity is minimal.
Lokale Regeln
Respect local swimmers and beach users during peak seasons; establish clear space downwind before launching. Follow standard right-of-way rules and maintain communication with other riders in choppy conditions.
Was anziehen
A 4/3mm or 5/3mm winter wetsuit is essential November-March; summer months (May-October) allow thinner 3/2mm suits. Water temperatures in the Bay of Biscay are cold year-round, requiring thermal protection.

Spot-Guide
The Experience
Sand launch is simple. Conditions aren't. The Atlantic hits hard here—constant chop, no glass days, constant adjustment required. This spot will expose sloppy technique.
Wind & Conditions
51 windy days per year. That's the real story. November through March is your window, with February and March most reliable. Outside that window, forget it. Average 8.3 knots means you need either genuine wind events or flat-water days—both exist, neither is guaranteed. West and northwest winds work. Thermals don't. You're hunting cold fronts, not riding consistent trade winds.
Water & Hazards
Bay of Biscay tides swing hard. Your launch zone moves throughout the day—plan for it. Rocks and shallow water exist in coastal sections, so scout before going out. Strong currents stack with swell. Drifting downwind casually gets you in trouble. Exit strategy matters here.
Who Should Go
Winter training spot if you're solid in rough water and read forecasts religiously. Intermediate kiters wanting confidence elsewhere will find better conditions on the French coast. Locals who know the tides make it work. Weekend tourists shouldn't bank on this.
Logistics
Cafes, parking, nearby towns with standard services. Kite schools and rental shops exist. Not a scene—a working beach.
