Lokale Tipps
Check tide tables before launching as shallow sandbars shift; conditions are most consistent November through April with 119 windy days annually. Winter swells can occasionally create choppy conditions, so check forecasts before heading out.
Einstieg & Strand
Launch from the flat water beach with best conditions on SSW to W winds; the flat bay provides ideal beginner conditions with minimal chop.
Lokale Regeln
Respect swimmer zones and stay clear of designated bathing areas, especially in summer. Coordinate with other kiters to avoid line tangles in the moderate wind conditions.
Was anziehen
Wear a 5/4mm winter wetsuit (Nov-Apr) due to cold Atlantic water; switch to 3/2mm in late spring and early fall for comfort.

Spot-Guide
The Experience
Flat water, predictable wind, forgiving conditions. Duxbury works for learning because the bay doesn't fight you—no chop, no swell, just space to practice kite control and transitions. You can actually progress here instead of spending sessions getting recovery-drilled.
The trade-off is obvious: no waves, no swell, no scenery. It's suburban Massachusetts. You come here to build fundamentals, not chase magic.
Wind & Conditions
Winter dominates. November through April delivers 119 windy days annually, clustering hard in January through March. Expect 11–12 knots average—light wind territory. SW to W winds are the norm; SSW to W gives cleanest launch windows. You'll need a large kite and patience.
January and December occasionally see winter swell funneling in and roughing the bay. Check the forecast before the drive.
Water & Hazards
Cold. Atlantic cold. Bring a 4/3 wetsuit minimum and don't plan extended sessions in peak winter.
Tidal shifts move sandbars seasonally. Low tide exposes shallows you don't want to hit at speed. Study tide tables before launching. Strong currents run through the bay; rip tides can develop near the mouth. Respect both. Summer brings swimmers and boat traffic in designated areas—avoid those zones entirely.
Who It's For
Riders in the learning phase. Flat water, light wind, stable conditions. You'll outgrow it within weeks if you're already past the fundamentals stage. Local schools and rental shops nearby make it convenient for lessons or rentals.
Access & Scene
Parking, restrooms, freshwater showers. Coffee shops and restaurants in town center. Launch early and you have the water to yourself. That's the appeal—functional, accessible, minimal crowds.
