- Beach access with sheltered launch areas
Lokale Tipps
Plan visits during peak wind months (May-October) to maximize conditions; confirm island access and any permits required in advance, as D'Arros is a remote private island.
Einstieg & Strand
Flat water conditions allow easy launching and landing; choose launch zones aligned with prevailing SE/SSE winds for optimal entry, and avoid downwind reef areas.
Lokale Regeln
Respect the remote island environment and any local restrictions; coordinate with Main House staff regarding designated water areas and activity schedules.
Was anziehen
Light rash guard or minimal wetsuit sufficient for tropical Seychelles waters year-round; consider UV protection given equatorial location.

Spot-Guide
The Experience
D'Arros requires commitment. You're flying into the Indian Ocean to kite a private island with no nearby town, no backup, no casual sessions. Once there, the lagoons are genuinely flat. The tradeoff is isolation—you plan months ahead or don't go.
Wind & Conditions
May through October. SE and SSE trades hit consistently at an average of 13.9 knots. In a lagoon, that's workable; at 18–20 knots, you get solid freestyle conditions. Wind direction shifts between SE and NW, so scout before launching. Morning glass-offs are typical; afternoon thermals scramble the pattern, especially leeward.
The Water
Zero chop. Zero drama. But reef systems and coral formations are everywhere, and tidal currents around the island perimeter push hard. You cannot launch in any direction. Route planning isn't optional—it's mandatory. Pick your launch zone with the SE/SSE wind in mind to stay clear of the worst features. Scout during tide changes and know your escape routes before you kite.
Who It's For
Beginners with discipline. You need to self-rescue, read tides, navigate confined water, and respect the reef. This is for kiters who book three months out, bring supplies, and understand limited rescue infrastructure. Last-minute bookers: stay away.
Getting There
D'Arros Main House offers basic accommodation and supplies. Confirm access and permits before flying—this is not walk-up. Peak season runs May to October; the spot closes during cyclone weather. Arrive in the window or don't bother.
