- Limited rental shops; bring your own gear or arrange rentals in advance
- Basic parking and beach access with minimal infrastructure
Lokale Tipps
Best wind consistency occurs Sep–Oct and Jan–Mar with SW/NE patterns; May offers lighter but more thermal winds. Check local forecasts closely as Corsican microclimates can surprise visitors.
Einstieg & Strand
Launch from sandy/pebbly beach areas during NE or SW wind events for most consistent conditions. Choppy water requires careful entry; scout for calm channels and avoid rocky zones when possible.
Lokale Regeln
Respect local swimmers and fishermen, especially in shoulder seasons. Share the water responsibly and keep clear of moored boats and buoys.
Was anziehen
3/2mm wetsuit for winter months (Jan, Mar) and 2/2mm or spring suit for warmer periods (May, Sep, Oct); water temps range 13–21°C seasonally.

Spot-Guide
The Experience
Ghjunquitu is a tactical launch, not a destination. You come when the forecast aligns, session, and leave. Pebbly beach with rocks to navigate. Launch works during NE or SW wind events, but entry demands respect—the Med here runs choppy with strong local currents. Expect rough water, not glassy mornings.
Wind & Conditions
September–October and January–March are your windows. SW flows push 12–15 knots in Sep–Oct; the Mistral does similar work Jan–Mar from the NW. May runs lighter and thermal-dependent—more waiting, more micro-forecasting. Around 97 usable wind days annually, but unevenly distributed. Summer is a trap: boat traffic and unpredictable thermal shifts make chasing gusts frustrating. Corsican microclimates demand local forecast discipline.
The Water
Choppy, directional, sometimes multisource. Strong local currents require careful reading. Rocky outcrops and shallow reefs line the launch zone—scout before entering. Rocks will trash your board. Water temps are reasonable May–September, but navigation is the real puzzle. Plan your entry channel and respect the reef zones as obstacles, not features.
Who It's For
Intermediate kiters who read water, manage currents, and handle chop. You need self-sufficiency—rentals are limited. Bring your own gear or arrange everything before arrival. If you need perfect conditions and rental support, go elsewhere. If you want to test yourself against a temperamental Mediterranean coast that rewards preparation, this works.
The Scene
Minimal. Summer brings tourists and boat traffic that degrades conditions. Off-season sees a handful of locals. Villages offer seasonal bars and basic parking. Functional, not charming. You come here to kite.
