Lokale Tipps

Best wind consistency occurs Feb-Mar and Dec-Jan; plan trips during these months for reliable sessions. Always check local weather updates and consult with nearby resorts about current conditions, as Philippine tropical systems can change rapidly.

Einstieg & Strand

Launch from sandy areas during NE/E winds when conditions are most favorable; avoid choppy periods by timing sessions with wind direction changes. Watch for rocks and shallow patches near the shoreline during entry and exit.

Lokale Regeln

Respect local fishing areas and give right-of-way to traditional outrigger boats common in Philippine waters. Coordinate with other kiters and water sports operators to avoid crowded zones, especially during peak tourist season.

Was anziehen

No wetsuit needed year-round due to warm tropical waters (75-82°F); wear a light rash guard for sun protection and comfort during extended sessions. Consider board shorts with reinforced padding for the bumpy water.

Spot-Guide

Wind & Conditions

Peak season is Dec-Jan and Feb-Mar. NE and E winds dominate, pushing 14+ knots when they're on. Wind direction shifts unpredictably—expect NE, E, ENE, then SW/WSW can swing through without warning. Tropical systems move fast here; conditions change hard and quick. Plan trips around peak months, but don't expect guarantees day-to-day.

Water state is choppy. Multiple swell directions collide. No glassy mornings.

Water Hazards

Shallow reef and rock patches sit near shore in unpredictable spots. Scout launch and landing zones before you go in—talk to local guides or resort staff. Currents run strong, especially on wind shifts. You won't get swept offshore, but you will get pushed. Account for drift.

Boat traffic from Boracay (45 minutes away) is a genuine hazard. Water taxis, tour boats, other water sports operators aren't watching for kites. Stay aware of boat movement and keep your kite visible.

Water is warm. Dehydration hits fast in tropical heat—drink before thirst signals it.

Who Should Go

Intermediate minimum. You need solid boat sense in choppy conditions and the ability to navigate reef obstacles. This isn't a learning spot or a place to dial in technique. Get local intel before you arrive—don't show up solo and figure it out. Medical facilities exist in Boracay town if needed.

Logistics

Romblon town is quiet. Resorts range budget to mid-range with food and bars nearby. Boracay sits 45 minutes away if you need bigger amenities. Windsurfers, paddleboarders, and occasional surfers share the water—respect the lineup.
