  • Großen Abstand zu Fischernetzen und Leinen halten (50 m+)
  • Im Stehbereich auf Finnen und Leinen achten

Ausstattung

  • Basic accommodation options within 10-15 km
  • Local guides and informal rental shops
  • Fresh water access in town

Lokale Tipps

Best wind conditions occur during northeast monsoon season (Nov-Mar); plan sessions early morning to avoid afternoon heat and thermal wind variability. Check local weather for sudden squalls during shoulder seasons.

Einstieg & Strand

Launch from the sandy beach into flat water with consistent ESE-NE winds; excellent conditions for beginners with minimal chop and easy water re-entry.

Lokale Regeln

Respect local fishermen and avoid launching during peak fishing hours; stay aware of other water users and maintain safe distance from boats.

Was anziehen

Light rash guard or thin wetsuit (2mm) year-round due to tropical warmth; heavier protection unnecessary in Philippine waters.

Spot-Guide

The Experience

Launch off sand into lake-flat water. ESE winds sit steady at 14-15 knots—predictable, consistent, dead boring if you've already got the basics locked. No reef. No shore dump. No obstacles between you and endless practice repetitions. That's the trade: perfect conditions for early technique work, zero progression past month two.

Wind & Conditions

November through March. Northeast monsoon season feeds ESE-NE winds at 14-15 knots average. You'll see 233 windy days annually, but most run 10-12 knots. Early morning is non-negotiable—thermal winds and afternoon squalls corrupt the afternoon window, especially May-June and September-October when monsoon systems shift. Be off water by noon.

The Water

Flat and shallow means complacency kills you here. Rock and coral patches lurk near shore; a blown edge can catch you on something invisible. Tidal shifts spike currents inside the cove—don't fight them. Fishing nets materialize without notice. Local boats run through daily. You're not alone in this bay. Stay visible, stay aware.

Who It's For

Beginners drilling fundamentals for the first few weeks. Intermediate kiters hit a hard ceiling—no wind range, no chop, no progression angles. Come here to build muscle memory, not to advance.

Logistics

Laoag town sits 10-15 km out with basic lodging and water access. No English-speaking kite schools. No new rental gear. Local rental shops and guides exist but operate informally—you need to be comfortable with that level of infrastructure. Sun intensity here is serious. SPF 50 burns off in three hours.
